Hi! We’re Jacob and Jasmyn Wichert. We’re really just a couple of artists our here trying to make it in specialty coffee. We like to make art, spend time with good people, and play with coffee. We started Amateur Coffee to make our dream jobs a reality.
Jacob is our roastmaster, quality control guy, and overall coffee professional extraordinaire. Jasmyn is the creative force behind our business, curating the parlor experience, illustrating our coffee bags, and entertaining everyone on social media with her funny storytelling.

In 2012, we were a couple of kids aged 18 + 19.We were recently engaged, had just moved into a studio apartment together, and were both working full-time in coffee while Jacob went to school to become a philosophy professor.
Jacob was becoming increasingly interested inspecialty coffee, while becoming increasingly DIS-interested in school.
“I just really wanna explore coffee!” Jacob exclaimed. “So, why don’t you drop out of school? We can totally start a coffee business!” Jasmyn pronounced.
The rest is history.
